not, apparently, sunflowers

Now, when we were walking through Okanagan parks with Kate the day before, she'd gone on and on about how wonderful these flowers were, and why wasn't I taking pictures of them?

"They're sunflowers," I said, just like I knew what I was talking about. "Weeds. They're everywhere," as though that matters to me, who will take pictures of lawn daisies.

Well, didn't that just set her going! They're not sunflowers, but some sort of native that's actually quite important in the grand scheme. I heard a great deal about them for several minutes till she decided her chain had been yanked enough.

Anyway, at one of the stops Nola and I made in the middle of nowhere, that being where this road was tending, there were more than a few of these kateflowers, so I unlimbered the camera and spent a few pixels on them.

They may not be sunflowers, but they are quite cheery enough to stand in.
